The writer loves listening to the Hindi song “Dhat Teri Ki” from actor Imran Khan’s film GTPM (Gori Tere Pyaar Mein). And one day, the winds shifted, and Imran Khan joined the Mumbai protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Images and videos of him seemingly re-creating Katrina Kaif’s iconic moves from the song “Dhunki” went VIRAL. Then, the internet started working its magic. Reels and appreciation posts followed, but so did the devil himself.

His involvement in a protest that is nothing but a dance with the devil for many Bollywood biggies turned out to be a nightmare for him. It makes the writer wonder: what must Mr Khan’s cognitive machinery have been like at that time? A protest raising questions over the alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision across the country. Great!

Skip to the present: the worst has happened to the actor. The Mumbai Police has asked Imran Khan, your beloved Delhi Belly actor, to leave India by October 28, 2026. Why? Two reasons. The first being that Imran Khan is an American citizen, reports suggest that his actions violated the relevant provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.

The Real Reason Behind Imran Khan’s “Bum Pe Laat” Situation

The second, and most important, reason being that Imran Khan’s participation definitely spooked a certain man, an organisation, or an ideology. Enough with the speculation. Imran Khan’s sudden burst of rekindled fame, coupled with his PR team pushing it further, turned into a noose of fire.

Yes, the writer’s algorithm has seen some cute reels of Khan with the caption: “Never imagined the song for the protest would be ‘Dhat Teri Ki’.” And now, the writer is unable to imagine that a man has been asked to leave the country within two weeks simply because the spotlight fell on him.

“Could this actually happen?” the writer asked their colleague sitting next to them, loudly.

At the same time, it makes you wonder about the creative thinking of a certain someone who came up with such a loophole that makes you rethink taking the less-travelled route.

Now, the only recurring question left to answer is whether Imran Khan would do as he is told or say, “Dhat Teri Ki, main ghar nahi jaana (Damn it, I don’t want to go home!),” and become the absolute diva that he is — the diva the 13-year-old writer saw on TV years ago.
